Published October 5, 2012 by Ema Volf

I hit a bit of writer’s block. So I’ve been working on proofing what I have so far, in hopes it’ll work itself out. So far I’m getting a few more ideas.

I also wanted to remind you about the R&M’s Halloween Spook-tacular! It’s going on all month! If you haven’t checked it out yet, you should! LOTS of authors are participating in this, and there are tons of prizes and swag to be given away! Links are below!

Goblin Spells Unicorns

Published September 26, 2012 by Ema Volf

Today I read Goblin Spells Unicorns by Christina Worrell

This book is about Grub and Ditto, two little goblins. They were doing chores while their Master was away gathering spell ingredients. While they were scrubbing the spell wall, they noticed a spell had been left unfinished. Afraid they would get in trouble, they decided to try to fix it without telling their Master about it, even though he had told them to do nothing but their chores. Naturally, their plan backfired.

It’s safe to say that this is the cutest children’s book with life lessons that I’ve come across in a while! And in only 8 pages, it covers so many!

I also read this to my son, who also loved it, because instead of the typical bears, puppies, and kittens, it had goblins, wizards, and unicorns! He loves the extra magical spin!

Thank you, Christina Worrell for writing such an awesome children’s book! My son has a new bedtime favorite!

Cover, Take 2

Published September 3, 2012 by Ema Volf

I had some issues while trying to upload the cover to CreateSpace for the print copy, so I had to adjust the cover a bit. Lessons learned and all that. Anyways, this will be the new official cover! I’m very happy with it!

In other news, CreateSpace stuff was all uploaded this afternoon. 🙂 So now I get to wait until they contact me.

I also have an awesome event coming up, but I don’t want to say anything until the information is officially released. But I will say that I’m SO EXCITED and I can’t wait! 🙂

BEST COMPLIMENT EVER!

Published September 1, 2012 by Ema Volf

I just heard from one of my beta readers who HATES fantasy books! I expected her to stop reading after chapter 2!

‎”I will suffer through another fantasy novel for you”

No, seriously, from her that’s a HUGE compliment! She also went on to say this:

“Anyway, totally meant it with love and respect. Book was really good. 🙂 I know some people can’t read books like that but they can watch the movie. I normally cannot stomach either. I do, however, tend to love stories where girls go above and beyond what most people think females ahould do. And this book def has that aspect.”

GENIUS!

I got a proof of the print format from my friend, Kenneth, who fixed it after I messed it up. Actually, “messed it up” isn’t strong enough. BUTCHERED it. LOL! I have to say, he’s a GENIUS! It looks awesome! I can’t wait for you guys to see it!

Also, I want to request that you guys keep the kids, teachers, and parents at Perry Hall High School in your thoughts/prayers as they heal physically and emotionally from the shooting attack yesterday. I can’t even imagine what they’re going through. Not only the kids who were innocent bystanders. It breaks my heart to think about what the shooter’s parents are going through right now.

Anyways, I’m going to get back to writing book two. Thought I’d give you guys an update.

COVER/BLURB REVEAL!

Published August 25, 2012 by Ema Volf

Release Day for the ebook of The Rapture of Avery Maye will be September 22nd! Ruthi and Mary Ann from R&M Fab Book Reviews have offered to help me with a Facebook Online Release Party!

I also received the cover today! I’m so excited!

Orphaned at thirteen, Avery Maye spent most of her life keeping her head down and blending into the shadows, trying to survive in a world bent on self-destruction through warfare and a never-ending quest for power. Unable to trust any but herself, her only friend was an apparition named Alec.

Ten years later, she fell asleep in the home she’d always known, only to wake in a new world, galaxies away. She soon discovered that her imaginary friend, Alec, was not an apparition at all, but very much real, as were the creatures from her best dreams and the monsters from her worst nightmares.

Overnight, she gains everything she ever wanted and more: a new home, new friends, and powers beyond her imagination. On a new path to self-discovery, while learning lessons in love and loss, Avery is finally given the opportunity to do more than simply survive. She can finally start living.

But in every paradise lurks a snake. Her newfound peace is rattled by the arrival of a pair of mysterious visitors from the world she has been fighting to forget. Will they bring the fate of Earth down on her new refuge?

Almost time now!

Tomorrow (well … later today …) I get to see the proof for the cover! I’ll bet it will be awesome! 😉

Also, a friend of mine promoted my Facebook author page today! It’s currently up to 125 fans! It was at 12 this morning! I can’t even express how happy this makes me!

Tonight I’m working on a blurb for the book. I’ve really been struggling with it, but I hope to get it out to you guys soon! My biggest problem is I keep wanting to put WAY too much in it.

In the meantime … I have this song stuck in my head. Enjoy!

Writing Journals

Published August 19, 2012 by Ema Volf

Yesterday, I had an assignment with my marketing research company. In order to prove to my company that I was there when there’s no one to check in with, I had to make a small purchase and send in the receipt. Well, it’s back to school time again, and I found TONS of notebooks, pens, pencil bags, etc. I decided on a small composition notebook.

Why am I telling you this seemingly pointless detail? Well, it’s simple. I have decided to start a writing journal. I will be making myself carry this notebook with me wherever I go to write down random ideas, plot possibilities, character possibilities, work through story problems …

I do have this blog to write/type things down in, but some things need to stay secret until release day. 🙂 And some things are ideas that need to be worked through, but never make it to release day because they’re just lame.

I’m not sure how it’s going to work out, but so far it’s working out pretty well. Call it an experiment.

And who knows? Perhaps one day I’ll be huge like JK Rowling and Stephen King and this thing will be work millions one day. 😉

And because it’s pretty and decidedly Ema and I love it, here’s a picture!
